Arrived in perth good place-bad job!!

Been in perth nearly 3 weeks now, love the place, daughters in day care, rental accom.nice just big problem of work being awful.
They have put me to work permanent fri, sat, sun, mon night shifts! which is going to be really hard with childcare at wkend as single mum! and flat mate not going to stay in all wkend to babysit obviously. Dont like the area im working in, have already tried to speak to them but not much help. anyone changed their sponsor? apparently its easy to change and can do it as often as you like, im emailing other employees today! I dont want to go home but cant really have a life like this. So fingers crossed i can get a better job with less socialable hours!
Feels like i have already been here a year, climatising to the heat well, dont want to leave any time soon!
Fingers crossed.

OH is having problems with his employer as well we are on a 457 and apparently as long as you find somebody else willing to take over the sponsorship then you should be able to just transfer the visa to the new employer without a hitch.

Good luck with your search for a new job, try seek employment they have lots of jobs on their website. Your hours of work don't sound much fun to be honest!!!!!

I know one thing is that you only have 28 days to find a new sponsor if you leave your original sponsor - so hold onto until you can find a new one as they have to go through the process of transferring your visa so you don't want to have issues with dates as if you haven't found a new sponsor in those 28 days apparently they will ask you to leave.

Hi Suzy

Glad to hear you like Perth. Sorry to hear about your work situation. What area do you live & work in? All I know is yes you have 28 days to find another sponsor or you have to leave Oz. Shouldn't be a problem tho with you being a nurse. Just had a thought if you type nannies in Perth into google OZ it comes up with a list of agencies. Not ideal but might help you out while you get another job.

Janette

Before you find another sponsor - can you find out about the child friendly initiatives in your place of work. Write to your manager, explaining your situation and ask for the nights you want to work - quote the child friendly policy. I work at Armadale and Kelmscott and they're pretty good.

Hey ive been in perth for 15mths and am on my 3rd 457 visa.Having had 2 realy crap employers the 3rd company is 100% better having looked into them more than the other 2 ie talking to current employees etc.The 457 visa is labelled "the slave visa" because u basicaly dont have any rights. If you leave your employer or are sacked your visa is cancelled and you have 28 days to lodge a new application. The process starts all over again the same paperwork, xrays etc and you cant work until the new visa is granted.Once the application is lodged you are on an automatic bridging visa which allows you to stay.

I know how you feel, I think you just have to weather the storm and you'll end up in something you enjoy. My big gripe is I came here with 12 years of experience as a sparky and with university engineering qualifications and i still feel like i'm not trusted to wipe my own arse
