I'll be 42 soon yikes!!!!..We came out with our 13 yr old and 16 yr old..left a 21 yr old and and 18yr old in England...Luckily both of the kids who are with us love it here, and the ones we left in England are also still loving life and doing great...I thought maybe we would have some major stresses with our 16yr old but he is having a great life here..Made so many friends..
Our 13 yr old has just started saying she wants to go home..Not sure how much she does and she doesnt say it all the time..I think she just misses my family tbh..

Only been here three months with four kids aged 16 (oops now 17) a 15yr old, 13yr old and 11yr old.
It was awful before we left the UK and awful when we first got here, (as the older two left girlfriends) and when they are that age its the end of the world for them. I was the worst mother in the world apparently, dragging them away from everything they know and love and they hated me for it.... But as i'm sitting here typing this post tonight, my eldest son went swimming at the beach 2nite with some young ladies he has met since we've been here , my other son is sleeping over at a mates house and my youngest two have knicked some apples out of my fridge again, and gone out on there bikes to feed the near by horses !!! We have a constanst stream of kids in and out of the house now, the phone never stops ringing and its never for us anymore, it always for them, and they all love it here !!!!!!
Im sure they will have their moments in the months and years to come but right now, its all going well !!!! So there is hope..........Amen..........

p.s. Thanks for the tip on joining a club or getting a hobby. Im trying to find a chocolate and wine tasting club I can join !!!!!!!

Hi Folks,
Delighted to hear that there are still those of us who are 40+ and still up for an adventure.
Life never stays the same Eldest son and wife arriving for a 6 week holls in two weeks .Not seen them in 4 yrs so very excited!Second son moveing rentals this weekend and and yes as always we are doing the move for them,Surry Hills area this time!.Third son just thinking of moveing out with his mates to the city!Thankfully youngest is just busy with work and girls!
Husband just enjoying working and I am loving that the family will at last be togeather for the first time in so many years. So the house and garden are having a spring clean and I am up to my eyes in prep work for my quilting class so I can spend all my time with the Boys.
Hope you all settle down and find time to explore your futures here in Oz.
Homesick ;yes it comes and goes.Have a good cry then go on to the u.k. newspapers and see what your NOT missing.Look outside at the blue skys and enjoy life.
Jen.

great post, i too moved here with my teenage daughter in may 2006, my husband had to stay in uk and sell our house...this took longer than expected. He eventually came out in Nov 2007, only to find 3 weeks later that his father had stomach cancer.
We all went back in Feb08, and his father passed away. My husband has stayed to support his mum for a while.
On a brighter note,my daughter has settled really well. She will be twenty one in August.
She has moved to Sydney and found a job. She has done really well considering her brother chose not to come out with us.
Good luck to all that are here, and all who are trying to get here.
Its well worth the wait. Debbie

just got 110 points to move to OZ

Hi All

Enjoyed reading the blogs from real people, doing the best thing for your families, so much of a big step, so many things to take in.

The big move to Oz has been on my mind and the O/H now for a number of years, i have three boys' 22, 18, & 13. i have been looking at the options, agent or DIY, still not to sure but the global Visas seemed really nice on the phone.

points:
I have just got 110 points. based on this score i can go to Adelaide.

Time frame:
i am about 15months / 2 years away from moving from Liverpool to Oz but so much to take in, moving away from family friends, finances etc.

questions:

Would love someone who has lived in Adeliade SA to give me some pointers like

Best place to live in Adelaide?
Employment demand for IT?
Quality of live in Adelaide in comparison with other OZ states?

will be booking a 2 week holiday over to OZ first, i feel i need to get a feel for Adelaide first, this will be more of a recky to see about housing, employment, schools and cost of living.

I welcome any feedback/advice on anything you feel would be benefitial to me and our family.

Brian.....
