arrived in oz

Hi guys,
just to let you know that myself ,janette ,marc and gary all arrived safe n sound altho maybe a bit tired, were in a rental in forrestfield near midland which is ideal for everything, people very friendly ,the jobs going good got ourselves a ute and a car for janette very reasonable cost too, dogs out of quarantine which is a horrible place to have to send your pet shes lost a lot of weight but am sure shell soon put it back on,got my TFN within 5 days and after a week got my ABN (employer applied for this for me online)
medicare we eventually got as they wanted our nhs card which we didnt have.our youngest has a "soccer" scholarship at school where all his other work is scheduled around his football and our 17 yr old has a part time job but all in all were enjoyin it and hopefully when we get our permanent visa we can then buy and not have to pay the stamp duty as temp visa holders you pay stamp duty no matter the cost of the property or lose out on the 1st time buyers grant as were on a 457 were not entitled to apart from that bring on the sunshine
talk soon
Billy and janette

Hi Billy

Thanks so much for the update on all your news. I've been wondering when we might hear from you.

Trust you to buy a ute! Just like my brother in law who is a dyed in the wool Aussie!!

I'm so glad to hear that your job is going well and that Gary has a soccer sponsorship at school.

Hugz to you all and please do keep us posted.

Whilst you've been out of circulation, there has been a massive change at the TRA. Apparently people who do not have formal qualifications in a given field are pretty well blocked from getting their skills assessed at the moment. Consequently, I've seen one post after another on the forums by brickies who are desperate to get to Oz via employer sponsorship instead.

You can definitely help to encourage the other brickies, my friend.

Cheers

Gill

Hi brian
well im working on a retirement complex at the moment(3 yrs work) and havnt came across any subbies as yet but im sure they are here somewhere
im on a day rate which is good as at least you knw what your getting come a friday im sure you can get on a price but hey would you want to go at it hammer and tongs in 35-40 degree heat mate
i start at 6.30 and finish at 2.30 and 1 .30 on a friday when the gaffer brings a crate of ice cold beer onto site for the squad(dont get that in the uk eh)
moneys slightly less than the uk but most things are cheaper if you look around so swings and roundabouts
been to hillarys its very nice but there is plenty to see here and plenty to do
You are doing the right thing bringing the family out as it is defo a better way of life especially for the kids, our 17 yr old didnt want to come and wanted to go home when we arrived then last week he told us he wants to stay now so everythins gettin better
going to arrange a fishing trip shortly our shipping arrived yesterday so should have it cleared from customs in 10-14 days

GILL
we only got the tinternet on yesterday lol
I had to get a twin cab ute so i could take everyone fishin as well as work heehe
as i said before i came out here if i can help anyone i will
and theres no comparrison --Glasgow to perth -clouds to sunshine bovril to ice cold beer
LOvin it
only things im missin are a good curry, potato scones and Glasgow Rangers
at least i can see the gers on the tv tho hehehehehe

Hi Billy thanks for the reply mate ,it all sounds good cant beat the feeling of working with the sun on your back instead of the drizzle.!!my TRA has been aproved so its onward with the next steps and as far as the kids go they all want to come over (got 3 .jack 13 , connie 10 , owen 6 in nov)so that was a relief! I cant wait to get there, allways wanted to Scuba dive and i will be giving that a bash when i get there. The fishing sounds good too..and coming home and havin a dip in the pool and a cold one..good to get a beer on friday off of the boss ,like you said they dont give you anything here.did it take long to settle in to the way they work (different guage, length of bricks etc)?

As for the curry you might have found a niche in the market open a curry house for the Ex pats ha ha

any way thanks again billy and keep us posted here about the new life

ta Brian
