Hi guys we are in that strange stage of deciding to deffanitly move to brisbane or not and was wondering if the lifestyle is better my wifes a nurse and I work construction and you here these amazing rumors of getting a brilliantly paid job as soon as you step of the plane and I supose the agents arent going to tell you any diffrent
Hey there
We have lived in Brissie for over 2 years now - came from UK in feb 2005. I am a nurse and came over with MSSA/Nurseworldwide who assisted me with all my forms and secured me a job to come to. Within 4 months of being at the job my manager ` bought me out` of the agency and hired me full time. There I still am. Nurses are desperately needed in BRisbane and if you are prepared to just go `get a job` for a while and `specialise` later you will have no issues!

Hi Joanne & Mark,
Im a nurse too, and just wanted some advice. Did you get sponsorship through the agency you came with? I was just wondering which agency to use, if i should use one, or apply directly to hospitals? Im a bit unsure of how to go through process. We are at the very beginning ............ ie. have not even applied yet!!!! I've heard nurses are at a shortage there, so hopefully will help get us there. Also was your application fast-tracked or did you wait a long time? We are residents of NZ at the moment, so only a hop n skip for us, the kids and the cats.
Hi I'm a nurse in mental health. I emailed hospitals and got an interview and got offerred a job, we were well into the visa process but I hadn't been granted it. The whole process for us was 7 months. I don't know if that was classed as being fast tracked but it was a bloody long wait!

Hi guys
when we first looked at coming out here I saw an advert in a UK nursing journal and followed it up. The agency sponsored me on a 457 VISA and secured me a job where I am still working. The job was there for me as I got off the plane. For 4 months I worked at my nursing home as agency. After the 4 months my manager bought me out of my agency contract and employed me full time.
We started applying in April 2004. We got on a plane on 7th feb 2005. I dont believe that our application was fastracked but the agency wanted to get me out by December 2004 on an emergency VISA so that I could start work. However leaving was going to be hard enough without coming out on my own for a few months!!! I opted out of that! On Jan 24th 2005 our visas arrived and we left 2 weeks after that. Said all our goodbyes and got on the plane.
Hope that helps. PM me or email me and we can talk more and privately if you want to!

Hiya jobs arent necessarily better paid than the uk but i guess it depends on skills and where you settle,we moved to brisbane not to make money but just to lead a better way of life ,sick of working 6 days and having no family time we decided it was time to chill a little before the kids are too big.So far we love it and havnt looked back ,if you want to make money stay in the uk but if you want a more relaxed way of life then Oz is the place to be,both of your occupations are in demand in Queensland so i wouldnt think getting employment will be difficult, each family is different but we are nearly moving for the reasons ,,good luck in your decision

Cal, you are so right. In moving to Brisbane we managed to clear every debt we had in the UK and we secured a much better way of life for my husband and I. In the UK we were working 5-6 days a week, sometimes 12 hours a day. We were lucky if we saw each other more than once or twice a fortnight! Now here is Brissie, life is better, our home is better, we have no debt, we OWN our cars, and we have our days off together every week meaning we have quality time for ourselves and each other.
We`ve been here since feb 2005 and havent looked back either! Its a good life isnt it!
