Hi there

I live in cleveland and is a great place to live

Some schools in the area are Cleveland High School, great area near the beach and has a good feel.

We are only 40 minutes away from Brisbane and there are alot of new areas being developed and they have just made some land available by my sons school which may be ready when you come out.

The loacl council is Redlands

i belive the web address is http://www.redland.qld.gov.au has alot of info in regards to the area and also info on schools

Let me know if you need further help

Regards

Michael

Hi Jamie

We have 3 boys 2 of whom are coming with us 13 year old and 11 year old we are looking at Cleveland and Cleveland state high school. I have heard mixed reviews most like it ..it sounds like most schools in this country. It has a football academy attached to it and shares its pitches with the local football team Redlands United accross the road are 3 swimming pools.

We were there last August it really is a fantastic place to live although if you are looking for a brilliant beach you will be disappointed. You can get a water taxi to nearby stradbrooke Island for the surf beach or you are 1 hour from gold coast or sunshine coast. There is a small beach in Raby bay which is a lovely place for an afternoon.

Cleveland is situated on a marina which has cafe bars and restaurants etc and there is a lovely shopping centre not huge though but there are large shopping centres at nearby Victoria Point and Capalaba.

For further info on this area try this forum its for those who live or want to live in this area its really useful for most things

Hope this helps

Kaye :)

Hi Michael
Not sure if i would like to sit in a cab all day in oz it would drive me mad(i might wind up a winging pom lol) but yeah its an option i suppose.
Your not wrong about england and it can only get worse its 2 am here and ive just come in after sitting in my cab for 12 hours and got a £50 ticket after stopping to get a bottle of water, its all about quality of life and im afraid there is none here mate.Im probably older than you and i dont know if its a mid life crisis or what but i detest the way this country is going and i fear for the future, ive got 4 kids my 13 year old son will obviously come with us and we are working on our 20 year old daughter although we cant force her but we are sure the older two will join us and make a life out there once we are settled and they can see what life really can be like,so we will all leave a sinking ship!.
It is a shame though you know i do love england but its not the england it was and i can only see a life hard word for little rewards, social dissorder, rising crime, and being brainwashed into being ashamed to be english, sounds pretty sad but thats what i think.
any way michael thanks for keeping in contact
might buy you a beer one day
good luck
jamie

Hi Kaye
Thanks for your reply how does your 13 year old feel about moving to australia, our son is really up for it but i think if we left it too much longer we might have a few problems. We also have a 20 year old daughter who we are trying to convince to come but we cant force her.How old is your older son will he not make the move? The link you added is good, there is so much research to do its blowing my mind.
Hope to get out there soon to see things first hand to check out schools, houses, jobs karate clubs for my son, jobs, oh! the list is endless but hope it wil be worth it in the end im shure it will.
well kaye good luck to you and your family and i hope it is everything you dream of....jamie
