Joining WA police

Hi everyone me and my other half and our two boys (Kane 13) and (Jevon7) are hoping to arrive in the perth area at the beginning of 2009 visa permitting of cause .Darren is joining WA police so im after any advise from anyone who has joined and thought god I wish id have done that or took that with me if you know what I mean ..
Also we are looking for any help with finding good schools for the boys and a nice family frendly area around the Jondellop area to rent for a few months until we find our feet and decide were to live permanatly as the kids have a very long wish list .Any help and advise will be great Thanks Julia
