The final Countdown!

So after eighteen months of blood sweat and tears I can safely say we are finally there!
I have been living off 'to do lists' since forever now and it's all very exciting to be ticking off the last of the boxes!
Our 457 and medicals all went very smoothly and quickly, think my visa was authorised within a week or so of us completing our application! Very impressed, puts AHPRA to shame!! Lol!
We said goodbye to all our furniture and personal belongings last week. we used John Mason, and have to say it was all fairly straight forward too, just praying the boat doesn't sink! It's a bit worrying packing all of our personal stuff such as photo albums and memory boxes etc not to see them for 3 months!
It was lovely not to have to pack though, we two lovely men arrive with their truck, and it was a gorgeous sunny day (yes we do have them occasionally) and so I just sat out in the garden relaxing whilst they did all the hard work! :))
Did have a mini breakdown when they were loading it all into the van and discovered they couldn't fit our mattress in.....I love our mattress! Like true professionals though they gave it a few big shoves and it all squeezed in! :)
I have now finished my job in the UK, no more NHS work for me!!! I had a lovely send off on my last day which was a bit emotional but the tears of sadness soon turned into tears of embarrassment when I had to suffer the usual leaving punishment of being strapped to a wheel chair, having all 4 limbs put in plaster casts and wheeled around the a&e dept with a vomit bowl on my head!!! Oh I love my work colleagues :))
Finlay ( our 6 year old ) had a lovely send off on his last day at school, his class organised a lovely suprise send off with lots of balloons and presses all in true Aussie style! He loved it and for the first time ever he was speechless.....no big surprises that made me cry too! Lol!
Gary finishes work tomorrow and so I'm sure he will have a nice send off too!
We had our big farewell party on Saturday, it was a lovely afternoon and evening with all our family and friends, we were so touched by how many people turned up so say goodbye....and yes I had a few tears then too!
So now we are on our final week and besides a few monre jobs and phone calls and hopefully selling our car we are just going to relax, spend some quality time with our family and prepare for the mammoth flight.....with a 18 month old it is def going to be dreaded! Lol!
Even after all the last two weeks events we still don't think it has really sunk in, I think until we sit down on that plane the realisation of what a huge thing we are actually doing won't sink in! It's going to be emotional saying goodbye to my folks at the airport and it has been draining have to constantly say our goodbyes to everyone but I still feel 100% that we are doing the right thing!
Hervey Bay, Queensland here we come! :)
