On A Working Holiday
Posted 09-10-2008 at 01:50 PM by lcys2460
The visa is validated – wahoooo, we arrived on a Sunday morning at Darwin airport and some lovely guy stamped our passports and wished us good luck and a “great to have you” – I wanted to jump around in excitement – its official!
Darwin seems like a whole lifetime ago already, been back nearly 3 weeks now. I’m not going to write about it now as I’ve already written an essay – finally got round to posting on PiO today should anyone want info on Darwin.
I do remember not wanting to leave for the UK… we therefore decided that we were only coming back to England on a working holiday – our home is now Aus. Unfortunately 3 weeks later, home seems so far away and not just in distance!
So, armed with our new ethos that we’re not home, we took the plunge and dropped the house price yet again. Two weeks in and no viewings – boooooooo.
Our new plan, is that due to our humongous monthly mortgage payment, if we sell low, we’ll go into the smallest rental possible in the UK and save like crazy, we reckon we could re-coup the loss within a year. Unless of course a bad day at work and you think who cares and just go! Time will only tell on that one!
Now I might sound crazy but …. I’m just convinced for some reason that we will sell and in the near future. My mate reckons its positive thinking and I should just go with it!
So until the house sells, I’m now wondering how to solve my drink problem! Now I’m not a raging alcoholic – or am I? I do remember OH’s Dad picking us up at 5am at Heathrow when we got back from Aus and me saying ‘ohhh yeah, I could really drink a beer now’!
I guess a cold beer goes down easy when its hot and being officially on holiday in Darwin, we drank every day….. that’s my problem now, I get home and have to have a glass or two of wine with dinner – every day! I’m worried about my waistline, not to mention the empty’s piling up!
Oh well, here’s to working holidays!
