1st Anniversary

Hi all
Celebrated our 1st anniversary in Sydney yesterday (1st September) and can't believe how quickly the year has gone!
It's been a mixed year but can honestly say that this feels like 'home' and there is still nothing about England I miss other than people and that doesn't get any easier. Most of the time it's ok but some days I feel really down.....Have made a couple of friends but would still like to make some more obviously but it's not easy and I'm just so glad I have Jeff's family here as I get on well with them and so am not totally isolated. My eldest daughter who came out with us loves it and is settled now in a job which have sponsored her, she also needs to make some more friends as was concentrating so hard on sorting out work she neglected her personal life for a while. My pooch is now just over a year old and adorable - love him to pieces and he keeps me company when I'm down and is so much fun....
Overall I would say it's been a good first year down under and I look forward to many more.....

Really pleased you're lovin' it, it gives me hope that we're doing the right thing! I'll email you this week, kids go back to school tomorrow so I'll have more time. Booked flights yesterday, arrive Jan 4th.....eek So that'll be another friend you can add to your list..... please, as I dont know anyone in Sydney! Speak soon Sam xxx |

Good News!Congratulations on getting to your 1st anniversary. You hear so many stories of people hating it and coming home after 3 months, it's great to hear success stories! We are just in the application stages at the moment and we are looking forward to making an entry like yours!

Happy anniversary Karen!!
If I was in Sydney I would be your friend but we are in Melbourne so a bit too far to go for a night on the town!! Mind you, if you are ever down this way, give us a shout!! We are coming up for our 9 month anniversary on saturday and are glad we made the move but like you, I have down days but I don't regrett a thing, other than not coming here sooner!! Well done too!!! We are still in stress mode sorting out the house here in the UK, plus Visa etc. Looking forward to a more stress free life in Sydney.....hopefully end Nov/early Dec.

congrats on the 1st year - trust me , next feb we have been here three and it goes SO QUICKLY!!!
We are coming down to Sydney next week and are staying in the Shangri`la for three nights! Cant wait!!! |
