We can now start looking forward to the actual holiday. Got off to a good start when daughter informed us in shocked tones that our decision to save a few hundred pounds by flying a week or so earlier than planned means she will be away from Sydney for our first day. We are not phased, she'll be back the next day. Also, as she will be in the airport too, we can meet for coffee before she flies off to some place in the sticks with a long name and lots of Os in it.

We are now synchronising our plans to fit in a week or so on our own. We thought we'd look at trains (better than planes because you can get off if you don't like it).

Rail passes, we thought, see the country and save some dosh. Found the website - and here we go again ...... Aus reef and outback, rail pass and back track, trans Aus? East coast? got to go and see the most, Aussie reef and Aus rail, Queensland beach and tourist trail and DONT FORGET THE GHAN .... We always almost go to Uluru but the cost is astronomical.

Coffs harbour looks good, so does Brisbane .......
