First steps...

Thankfully, our Agent has approved of our attempt at drafting Steve’s Vetassess references. She has given us permission to send them to his ex-employer so they can be agreed, signed, dated and put onto company letterhead. As Steve is on good terms with his ex-employer, this shouldn’t present a problem except…his ex-employer is close friends with Steve’s dad who hasn’t yet been told that we are planning to emigrate. We are really not ready to tell Steve’s mum but his parents are divorced so the plan is to ask his dad to keep it quiet for the time being. I think his dad will be fine - when we came back from Australia in January he said that we ought to think about going ‘to get away from the police state that this country is becoming’ and that he would go if he was younger. He doesn’t see a good future for anyone in this country. Is he right? Sometimes I think so, other times I just feel really sorry that I even think like that and wonder if it is that bad after all. Then I see something else in the news or the press that makes me want to leave again.
