Teaching in Oz?
Posted 27-12-2007 at 06:18 PM by dazzler
Hi all - I hope you can help me.
After a lot of thought I have started looking in to teaching in Austrailia. I have been teaching maths in the UK for just about 9 years now and I think a new challenge is needed. I have no real idea were to start, I have gone onto the Austrailian Embassy website and filled in the form for someone to contact me, but I thought I would try this website.
I don't have a clue where the best places in Oz would be for jobs etc etc
If anyone can give me a few ideas I would be very greatful.

Hi there,
It does depend on how long you want to be in Australia for. If you are thinking of a permanent move then the skilled independent options could be worth looking into. I came over on a 136 skilled independent visa as a primary school teacher and will be working in Frankston, Victoria after Christmas. Different states have different registration requirements so the best advice I could give you is to first of all get some advice from a registered migration agent who will go through the skills assessment process with you and check that you meet the criteria for that and then look at which visa would be useful. Go Matilda are mentioned a lot on here - Alan Collett posts on the forum regularly but you could also google search migration agents. Also the best place to ask questions like this would be in the main forum - the blog area is more for diary type entries. Hope this helps a bit, Felicity |
