perfect timing, not

the company I work for has just been acquired by a much larger company - I had hoped to be leaving before it happened, but sadly, due to the visa processing delays, I'm caught up in it all.

Its so frustrating

I'll have an extra hour on my commute to the office (making it 4 hours on a bad day, 2 1/2 on a good one) which is just crap, although the new offices are an order of magnitude nicer than my current ones.

They have a company car policy rather than a car allowance, so I'll have to sell my car and get a new one for my remainder of time here - god knows how much that might cost me in tax and stuff :(

Do I tell my new bosses that I plan to leave just as soon as ASPC get to my application?? bearing in mind that given the current rate of inactivity, that could be 4 months or so away..

I might even get made redundant, which would have god knows what effect on my visa application, plus I would need to get a new job knowing full well that I might only be in it for a few months. Not sure if I'd get enough redundancy to be able to wait out for the visa..

I'm not against working for this new company, far from it in fact - they are a massive and highly regarded company that would look brilliant on my CV, but there is so much change at a time when I really need to be focussing on getting ready to move and spending time with my kids, not working out how HR and expenses systems work and doing career planning with a new manager, however nice they might be, for a career I wont be having and driving 6 hours a day to the office and back.

plus, and this is the most annoying thing - they dont use Blackberry's - aaarrgh!! that makes working from home on the beach a no-no!! LOL!!
