AVI4
Hi guys, my first post here, I'm flying out on the 3rd of December to Perth then staying in Dunsborough. I've got my ticket, visa and about 2000 AUD in cash, when I get to immigration will it matter that i only have 2000 in the bank and the rest on a credit card Or does all the the recommended 5000 AUD have to be in your account? Might be a daft question but i'ts getting close now and little things are playing on my mind. Cheers guys.
Mims
Am I assuming correctly that you are on a WHV? If that is the case, when we went in nov 2013 no one checked how much money we had at any time, the more you have the better though, it goes very quickly! Enjoy! Guest51810
I think that credit card can count. It says access to the funds. At least you have the credit card but I doubt they'll check. Always better to be safe than sorry though!
AVI4
Yeah I'm on a WHV I'm going to try and get a job ASAP so hopefully won't be spending too much savings. I'm going to be living as frugally as possible. Thanks for the reply. Avi
AVI4
was hoping that the card would count. When are you going Stacey? Saw your thread a while back and remebered you were going late 2015?
Guest51810
As far as I know it counts! I've got one as my emergency fund for my flight. I arrive in Sydney on the 6th of November but I'm leaving the UK on the 2nd

Guest51810
I'm flying alone but then I'm doing one of those group package with some girls from Manchester. I haven't got insurance yet, I tried to sort it out last night but I need to give them some more information about something. So it'll probably be done by the weekend. Other than that im mostly sorted. It's just things like a few more clothes and packing etc
jumpingjellybean
As long as you have a return ticket, some funds and maybe an emergency credit card, you should be fine. Immigration gets quite huffy if you don't have a forwarding / return ticket. And will start checking then.
Guest51810
Really? It doesn't say you need to have a return ticket. It just says the funds for one which can be money or credit card. I don't have a return ticket, barely anybody I know has one because they plan on doing a 2nd year or going to Thailand or New Zealand
jumpingjellybean
Really? It doesn't say you need to have a return ticket. It just says the funds for one which can be money or credit card. I don't have a return ticket, barely anybody I know has one because they plan on doing a 2nd year or going to Thailand or New Zealand OK. A return ticket OR the funds for one. Most people have a Flexi Ticket. Which is basically a return open ended ticket. Which allows you to extend and change your route. So not a return ticket as such - more a forwarding ticket Many countries (I know the USA is one) get very narky about people arriving on a one way ticket. jumpingjellybean
OK. A return ticket OR the funds for one. Guest51810
Yep that's what I said. One or the other. I've got the required funds and I've got a credit card just as a backup for flight home. Plus my family said they would get me home if needed
