We are a holiday accommodation provider in Hervey Bay – gateway to world heritage listed Fraser Island, home of the “Humpback Whale Kindergarten” and the Southernmost tip of the Great barrier Reef.

Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world and is on most visitors “must see” list.

From July to November, Hervey Bay is known as the whale watch capitol of the world. The calves are born in the sheltered waters here and learn their early skills before they head south again.

We are a short 30 minute plane ride to Lady Elliot Island at the southernmost end of the Great Barrier Reef.

This is a small tourist town with 14km of beachfront and shady bicycle paths. You would be welcome to use the kayaks, bikes and fishing gear that we also provide for our guests.

We have 40 chickens roaming the yard that lay eggs (some of them blue!) for our guests and 20 exotic breeding birds some of which the guests come to visit. We have 4 gorgeous macaws and the rest are speciality parrots.

We also have 3 dogs, 2 lizards and a house full of European helpers coming and going who are on a volunteer program and not looking for a second year visa.

In your free time you would be welcome to help with the housekeeping at the apartments for a small allowance for phone cards and personal items.

We provide accommodation and all meals. We are a vegetarian household so helpers periodically get together to have a BBQ of their choice on the beach.

You will start early and be finished early afternoon to enjoy the beach and all the amenities that Hervey Bay has to offer.

We request that you keep a diary and photos of your work days while you are helping.
