Hi
We have been here 7 weeks now and are loving it. We also had a holiday let for a few weeks on arrival, which I would recommend as it gives you some time to have a look around the areas that you may want to settle in whilst maintaining a degree of comfort. We now have a rental (we applied for two and got offered both!) and the children are enrolled at school. Oh has started his new job this week and we've bought most of the furniture we need. We love the fact that we are just 5 minutes drive from the beach (we were originally from Leicestershire and about as landlocked as you could get) We love the 'no worries' attitude of the Aussies, the climate is great (bar the tropical rain-storms of late) The food prices, I've found to be on par with the UK really. The fruit and veg choices are a lot more varied. Clothing is okay maybe a bit dearer although KMart and Best for Less are pretty good value. We've found the furniture to be really good value, and we've bought some lovely pieces for a lot cheaper than you would pay in the UK. Cars are more expensive though.

my two children are only 5+6yrs ,they have not started school yet as we wanted to make sure the area was right also its now 2 weeks school holidays.i think they think there on one long holiday im definatly ready for them to go,nightmare shopping for household furniture with two kids that just want to be surfing the waves or going to the parks .
I live in Mandurah and work in Canning Vale. It takes an hour to drive there. As for schools, go for private if you can. My lad suffered a lot in the state school he went to, and we have spoken to many others with the same story.
Sorry to hear that you've had problems with the state schools roborob - my children are in state schools and the experience so far has been great. Both did a year in primary and my daughter started high school in Feb. Some state schools have incredible reputations.

Which state schools were your children at and what was the problem, as I am thinking about putting my children in state school and would like to be prepared.
Thanks Sharon
