Hi there
We have just started the visa process and have chosen brisbane as the place we would like to be.We have chosen cleveland/redland bay area as the first place to look at simply because it is not too near the main city although its accessible, surfers paradise is not a million miles away,it seems a good area and the house prices are not too dear. There are plenty of schools in the area both primary and secondary and crime is not a major issue also what influenced us is the fact that there is a very good karate club near by for our 13 year old son ,and our freind who is sponsoring us has his business nearby.
You really have to work out what you need and go from there, like schools, you and your partner's work, how close to the city do you need to be etc. There is a hell of alot of research to do because this is a big decision and you have to put the odds on your favour as much as you can.
Ask questions, look on google earth, trawl this web site, ask questions and try to track down what you need, its mind blowing but hopefully worth it for all of us.
Good luck to you and i hope this has helped
