Taking the car to Australia? Are we mad?

We have a Toyota Landcruiser, whose value has plummeted recently in the light of the recent 'environmental' media coverage. We'd rather not sell it before we go (hopefully this September) and therefore avoid making a huge loss! The problem is that this would mean shipping the car to Australia. We've had a couple of quotes (around £1400) but these do not include the costs incurred at the other end in order to get it ready for the Australian roads.

Does anybody have any information or experience they might be willing to share? What would customs etc. charge to admit the vehicle? Its UK value is between £10 and £11k.

Are we damned if we do and damned if we don't?

Thanks

Andy
