Hi All,

New to the forum...and so very pleased I found it!

I have a million questions..but will hold back as much as I can for starters!!

Firstly, I am a qualified Orthopaedic Technician, (not in the list as such) but its a rare trade here with only a thousand or so people qualified and registered here in the UK. Our governing body has affiliations with Aus, and so I started enquiries as to whether I would be eligable.

I then discovered that there is a Expo at Australia house in London in a couple of weeks, so filled in the form. Because my trade is not listed, but I ticked the boxes for medical "other" then wrote an explaination when prompted, I got an invite to attend on Oct 15th.

As you can see I am at the very begining of what may be an adventure, and have been avidly researching ever since, but while reading various posts on this site I can see its going to be a lengthy journey.

My first questions are:

Does anyone know if my job is actually desired in Aus?
How long on average does it take from begining to end?
How many and what processes are there?

And a final question, prompted from a post on here which I hadnt considered:

I am a single parent of a 7yr old girl, there is no fathers name on her birth certificate, as far as the CSA is concerned, there is no father. ( they visit within weeks of the birth) I informed them I concieved abroad and am unaware of the fathers details, therefore their enquires halt at that point.

So...would I have to go through a process of getting paperwork releasing my daughter from a non-existant father??
