I had to provide 3 (I think, it might have only been 2). I've been keeping all mine since though, cos we're still waiting for a C/O and I'm assuming they might ask for more up to date stuff. Our agent also said the same applies to my employer reference, it may have to be updated at some point in the future (but he also said that they rarely check the references anyway!)
