Hi Mrs Summer and welcome to PIO!

I'm not sure about the switch from WHV to a skilled visa, for one thing coz they can take a good while to actually get (skilled visas that is and there is more than one stage to qualify), and because you can ONLY do certain jobs on WHV, to work as a sparky he has to prove his qualifications on a skills assesment and then some sparkys even once approved have had to do further certificates once in Oz to be able to work. Do you have a trade, that may be easier to find work for?

Your first step should really be to speak to a Migration Agent, the first call is free as far as I know they may be able to point you in the right direction.
