Hi Michelle,
I grew up in Werribee and in fact most of my family still there. Werribee is a great place to live - although have to say my (Welsh) husband and I don't live there - we live closer to the city. The local public hospital is excellent - we recently had our baby there. The shopping is good - much cheaper than the Easter side of town (Eastern suburbs considered the 'posh' suburbs of Melbourne). Have to say though, you do get alot of 'chavs' and hoons. Stay clear of living in Birdsville. If you want a good catholic high school, I highly recommend MacKillop College. Living somewhere near the Werribee River is pretty. And actually we found the best curry in the main street of Werribee. And believe me, my husband is very critical on finding a good Indian - and they are hard to come by! The commute to Melbourne city is a pain the bum. Because Werribee/hoppers crossing and actually the whole of Western suburbs - has expanded, the traffic in peak times is pretty bad. With no traffic, you can get there in 30mins - but in peak times it can take up to 1hr+. to make matters worse, sun glare is shocking in the morning and nights. Werribee is in between Melbourne and Geelong. Geelong is about 30mins further again - and its a great city. Good shopping and your gateway to the coast (great ocean road etc). I won't go on. Anything specific you need to know, let me know. Natalie
