We told our kids (age 8 and 13) about 18 months ago. We made them think it was a family decision and they agreed to it (even though we would still be doing it if they didn't agree). Since then we have visited Oz and they have been really excited. They have started watching all the tv programmes to do with Oz and they go on youtube looking for anything 'Australia'. I would tell them as soon as possible.
