I often wonder why it works for some and not others. House prices in Perth rose considerably in the time we were waiting for a visa and we found we had a bigger mortage than anticipated. We were talking this evening and wondering why our life is better here - I think alot of it is attitude, we've take a step back at work and both now don't have the same responsibilities but enjoying work nontheless, we're really enjoying our family time and I've never laughed so much over dinner with the kids has we have done here, we spend so much more time together as a foursome. I've said previously, it's as if i've found something I didn't know was missing - I've felt at home here since I arrived. There are people and things that I miss - but it has the nostalgic element it had in the UK when we used to talk about how big curly whirleys were when they were first sold lol. Nigel (hubby) is planning a trip for our 50th birthdays - by that time the UK will have changed from what we remember. I realise we may have been lucky in that we've settled quickly, but my partner in crime Cal (and our other visa diva Sparky who doesn't post anymore) all seem to have taken to the aussie life ... maybe it's something else other than luck?
