Well you aren't going to like the UK then, I shop in most supermarkets and if one more cashier asks me what the weather is like outside or how i'm I feeling today its almost like they have been given a script and talk about false.
They dont even listen to your answers then they ask you the same question again.
Then you have the greeters at shop doorways who say hello, how are you? as you enter the shops and then the ones that follow you round asking if you need help.
This is going on all over now its just as annoying anywhere.

Hi Kaye, I work for Sainsbury's in the Personnel department, but we are all multi skilled and expected to help any other department when needed, which is usually checkouts.
Our customer service is to, smile at the customer, make eye contact, greet customer with hello, ask if we can help you with your packing, make conversation during the transaction, pack the last few items, so the customer can be getting ready to pay the bill, and then say goodbye at the end of all this..... So after the first few customer's of the day, yes this can seem like we are all reading from a script.
We then have a mystery shopper that comes in once a month and marks the whole store on certain questions he / she has to ask, and depending our we do, we could loose our bonus over the year.
Sorry it's our job and bonus..............
