You couldn't much more different places in Oz than Perth and the Gold Coast.
I'd compare the Gold Coast to the Miami of Oz, high rise building right on the beach, not my cup of tea at all!
Perth is one of the nicest places in Oz to live and a lot more suitable for a family IMO.
