Found a great way to make new friends is to start a new hobbie.I took up quilting 4 yrs ago and now teach it.Used to be a nurse and life realy dose start at 40.

The boys are now young men two live in the city with there partners and the youngest one known as Pom still lives at home!He is more Ozzy than Pom with a great life to look forward to and has a great social life.

Moving here was traumatic as we left one son in the u.k who is now married we missed going to his wedding and yes we miss him everyday but lifes too short to look back so try new things and dont look back just forward.

If your on a tight budget remember the time will come when there will only be the two of you and you can explore Australia with out the moan of are we there yet!
Our eldest and his wife are now touring Africa,India and next month Asia after selling there home, bikes cars and arrive for a 6 week stay before going back to the u.k.with jobs waiting but living with the in laws till they buy another house!

We havent been togeather as a family for 4 yrs so yes this Mum is doing the full Christmas tree ,dinner plus BBQ's and family birthday party to make up for lost time togeather.Who knows in time they may yet come to Oz! So hope this helps any other mid life mom's.:)
Hi Jennifer,
I loved your post. I am 40 my OH 44 and we will be bringing one 17 yrs old and possible later on another teenager and am worried about how to handle their emocions aswell as my own and trying to keep the family from falling apart. We all know how hard on everybody its going to be and we have all talked about it at length but talking and doing are different things aren't they. But the reason for the move is for a better future for all of us in particular the kids they are nearing adulthood and the UK is really going down hill and i see only struggle ahead for them. It was nice to read your thread it give us all hope that it is do-able and in the end it's all for the best. We just wish we were there doing it already we do wish we had done this years ago, i think it gets harder when the kids are older when they are small they just adapt to there surrounding faster. We feel we are on a tight timeline we are worried that if we wait too long the boys will get seroius with a girl and not want to come. Race against time or a race againt Testostorone anyway!!
Kind Regards Alison x
