Why must it be Warrnambool? There are only 26 hairdressing salons of any size in the place to judge from the local business directory, which is here:

The thing with sponsored visas, especially when one does not have a lot of experience in the relevant field, is that one generally ends up going to any place in Oz where there is a willing Sponsor. When you have PR in Oz (or after 2 years with PR if it is an RSMS visa) then you are free to move to wherever you like but for the moment I'd say that your shopping list is probably not realistic.

Have you contacted all 26 of the salons listed? If so, what have they said?

Also, Alan Collett - the boss of Go Matilda - lives in Geelong and the firm has an office there. He has recently started a sister company called Find a Job in Oz

Have you asked Alan whether the sister company would be able to put feelers out on your behalf?

Also, since there are obviously many, many more salons in Melbourne and the immediate area round there - some of which may be large and therefore might be willing to consider a recently-qualified and inexperienced hardresser - would you be prepared to live and work closer to Melbourne at least for 2-4 years?

I have a theory that it is easier to obtain sponsorship if a Registered Migration Agent makes the initial approach to the potential employer/sponsor. The reason is because most employers in Oz know nothing whatsoever about the immigration process and therefore shy away from the unknown.

You don't know anything about the employer's end of sponsoring someone for a visa and neither do I. Where someone like Alan can help is that he can reassure the potential employer that he does know how to do the employer's end of it as well as that of the wannabe migrant, so he could reassure a potential employer in a way that you can't.

However, are you prepared to pay a reasonable professional fee for such assistance - and bear in mind that you would almost certainly have to pay for the professional assistance provided to the employer as well as for those services provided to yourself?

And are you willing to be more flexible than you seem to be at present about where you are prepared to go to if an employer can be found? The drive from Warrnambool to Melbourne CBD is about 3.5 hours according to Google Maps and it looks like motorway all the way, so I doubt that it is a difficult journey. Therefore if you ahve family in Warrnambool, it is not as if you would not be able to see them reasonably often.
