After having a chat with our rental agent she gave us the following information:
- In Victoria you don't pay council rates if you are renting.
- Water - If the property is a unit with several on the block you won't always be responsible for paying the water rates if it is a rental property. It all depends on whether the owner had individual water meters put in. If they didn't, you are not necessarily going to be charged water rates. We have an individual water meter so we copped the charges!
We have a 3 bed unit, beach side in Mornington and pay $320 a month rent.
