If memory serves, the same goes for QLD. No "MOT" as such, but if you're selling a car then your are legally required to have a recent roadworthy certificate. Registration can be paid half yearly or annually, and this includes your third party insurance. All additional forms of insurance are optional. In my experience, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the cost of motor insurance in Australia. When I moved to the UK, I found it to be unbelievably expensive.
