Hi, Initially I liked Werribee, especially Werribee south side (as opposed to Werribee South which is the beach area). It seemed to have everything - a nice town with good facilities, shops, sports and schools but the longer we spent there over the two weeks, we began to see that it had a rough undercurrant. We've got young kids and although the town has got a lot going for it, it just didn't feel good. Coming form a nice soft and safe environment (Christchurch NZ) we found Werribee a little harsh with excessive drug, crime and social issues.
I read only recently that a new scout group was formed in Werribee, they spent a load of time fundraising to buy camping equipment for their very first camp. It was all stolen from the scout hut and they are left with nothing. My son has just joined the local scouts as a young Joey scout (for 6 year olds) so this story was particularly moving for me. Sadly crime is common everywhere but Werribee has more than it's fair share and I don't want to live in the environment where crime and social issues are so prevalent.
