I presume that you're talking of the s.457 Long Stay Temporary Business Visa, which I am also going on. If so, then there is no set timescale that you have to work for that employer, though the visa is for a maximum duration of 4 years and the period is nominated . There is no automatic right to permanent residency from this visa, and you are tied to the named employer. If you have a disagreement and leave (or are sacked) then you have 28 days to either find a new employer willing to sponsor you (and a new visa application is requried) or leave the country.
