Maybe try Geelong or Lara. We live in Lara which is a town in the country. There is a V/Line train service direct to Melbourne which means you get a seat and avoid the suburban crush on the Connex line.

Sunbury is also okay as is the smaller Bacchus Marsh. Give Melton and Werribee a miss
