...Hi!..just read your post and have been in a similar place to you..my parents emigrated to Perth in 1966 with my two older brothers and myself at the age of three, and came back in 1977. My younger brother was born there in that time. All of my brothers are out there now with their families, and i have been back for a few years with my own family. We had to return to the UK for a short while, and are returning to Perth next March. I think i went back with all the memories from my childhood, but as always time moves on and things change. It's strange...it feels familiar but also not quite home. It was great going back to visit old neighbourhoods and schools, etc. but personally i think you have to start your new life with your family...make new memories. When i went back it took a while to settle for us all, especially as my family had never been there, but we loved Perth..the place..the people and lifestyle and even though quite scary at first, also very exciting!! It has given my family the opportunity to see a different part of the world and have fantastic experiences..i'll never forget my husband coming home from a road trip to Kalgoorlie... coming through the door and saying how fantastic it was to drive a Road Train along a desolate red road, with the radio blaring out "I come from a Land Down Under" - and this from a man who is fiercely patriotic! I hope this helps and good luck with whatever you decide
