In Australia in general to me I didn't really see what we have here in England lots of good pubs/clubs where men and women go, I felt that in Australia pubs seemed more of a mans world! Brisbane CBD had a couple of good pubs that we went to and were quite up-to date as far as Australia is concerned and had a good atmosphere. The sunshine coast has some lovely areas with some nice restaurants along the beach sides but I didn't see anywhere there that was like the Gold Coast and the Surfers Paradise region, where it is more up beat!! In saying that keep checking your post as there could be someone that lives in the Sunshine Coast that may no some up beat trendy places to go. Noosa is upmarket (well I thought so!), but still for cafe's and restaurants. I liked Brisbanes CBD and it even has its own man made beach right in the city! And if you lived there Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast are easy to go to but obviously a drive away. If you live in one of the surburbs of brisbane you can always get the ferry into the CBD or a cab. There is a web page called our brisbane which is worth taking a look at.
If your thinking of working in Brisbanes CBD and then want to live Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast check the distance of the area that you choose as it could be along drive to work. I think Coalundra is probably about one hour to one and half hours away if the roads busy.

Decisions Decisions eh!

Regards
p.s. Sydney had a great place with loads of trendy bars in a sort of underpass (subway) we thought we were going under a subway and wow these fantastic bars were there with an amazing atmosphere it was right next to the Opera House!
