Don't know about Brissie (but CalNGary sure to!).
Do know that Perth can, and does, achieve 45deg c in Summer. We were in Perth in March for 3 weeks, officially autumn, and all but 5 of our 21 days were over 30deg c, and we had 35-37deg c for about 3 days in a row. It was very hot.
